“Our job as teachers is to help some WANT to learn.”

I’m Phil Myers. Welcome to “Bible by Paragraphs” a website designed to help us avoid mistakes in interpreting the Word of God.

My three goals are simple.

#1 Help you learn to dig in your Bible for things you might otherwise miss.

#2  Guide you in using 8 precepts.

  1. The Law of non-contradiction: no verse contradicts any other verse. Sometimes the New Testament supersedes the Old Testament or explains the OT more fully.
  2.  Context is crucial: pre-Moses? Jewish nation?  Church Age?  Still future?
  3. Compare Scripture with Scripture.
  4. Start by assuming the literal, historical, & grammatical meaning.
  5. The only interpretation is whatever God intended: not your ideas, not my ideas.
  6. Look at other statements the same author made.
  7. Clear verses explain unclear verses.
  8. T.B.D.S. The Bible Doesn’t Say everything we want it to say.
#3. Share a couple hundred Bible study mini-tips scattered throughout the video sessions.

I’ve taught in Bible colleges for a long time, stateside & overseas. I want you to have the benefits of a college level classes – FREE.
